Saidia kwa Moyo [help with the heart]

Saidia kwa moyo bibimalaikas children help project Kenya registered association, controlled by the Department of Children’s Services & Care International.

My husband and I have been touring East Africa since 1990 and have found ourselves particularly drawn to Kenya. During our travels we discovered the various facets of this wonderful country: The friendly smiling people, amazing animal world, endless savannas, the breath taking sandy beaches and turquoise-coloured sea of the Indian Ocean. In November 2003 we came upon Msumarini, situated 20kms north of Mombasa. It was here that we met the orphans whose parents were killed in the bomb attack in Mombasa’s Paradise Hotel. The media gave extensive coverage of how the attack affected Israeli people, but nobody seemed to care for the Kenyan orphans. These children were housed in mud thatched huts and slept on bare ground. We provided them immediately with food, clothes and mattresses. This experience had a profound effect on us and we visited the children again in April 2004. We saw that they were still neglected and were starving. Upon our return we established a help association under the name: Saidia kwa  Moyo ,Bibimalaikas Children Help Project Kenya Registered Association. It is registered with the District Court Helmstedt No. 864. We flew to Kenya again in June 2004 and rented a house in Kilifi, 50 kms North of Mombasa. We renovated this house and made the necessary furnishing items such as tables, beds and cupboards. The garden was cleared, the fence repaired and a vegetable seedbed was laid out. We also built a sitting area with a kitchen and a chicken pen. In the meantime, the first 19 orphans had already moved in and still more inquiries are being made for orphans. In order to finance this project, we need support. Donations, memberships and sponsorships can all help improve these children’s lives and provide much needed materiel: For instance, the children require school uniforms (20 euros,) school desks and chairs (22 euros), shoes (12 euros,) and mosquito nets (5 euro.) Given that the running costs amount to 1100 euros per month, support is in great need. Even a small amount would improve the children’s future.

The expenditure for each child amounts to 30 euros per month! There are no administration expenditures as we are working in an honorary capacity. It is our aim to build a secure future for these children, through a combination of counselling, education and specific training.

Children are human beings looking for the way, without guidance they will lose track!!
